Could Invisalign Be Your Choice For Braces?

many people will choose invisalign over traditional braces

Invisalign is a GREAT option for teens and adults!

Invisalign are clear, plastic braces that straighten teeth just as conventional metal braces do. Being virtually invisible, they cannot be seen when worn. They are easy to wear and easy to maintain, and virtually invisable – which make them a great choice for teens and adults alike!

The process is quite simple. Impressions, photos and X-rays of your teeth will be taken and then used to create a digital 3-D image. At the first fitting, you will be shown how to place the trays in and get them out of your mouth, as you have to remove them whenever you eat and drink hot foods. You might think it’s a tad difficult, but then after a bit of practice in the mirror at home, you’ll got the hang of it pretty quickly!

You will then be given a few sets of of trays which have to be changed every 2 weeks. There might be some discomfort for about a day or so, as they started to straighten your teeth towards the final position. You should expect to have them on for about a year, and for the first six months you might have a dull ache for the first day of a new set. Later on in the process, when your teeth are more mobile, you’ll be able to put them in and out with very minimal pain.

My advice would be to put your new ones on at night so the alignment starts while you’re asleep. Use of Invisalign also requires discipline because the success of these braces depends on wearing them at least 20 hours a day.

Finally, we should mention that Invisalign braces are not for everyone, for a number of reasons. They are the most expensive of all braces because they are practically invisible. They are also not suited for people with severe dental issues like overbites. We would recommend to anyone thinking of having braces to ask about them at your consultation. This way you’ll be informed if these amazing appliances will be suitable for your needs!
