If you are looking for a more practical option than traditional braces to a straighter smile, Invisalign may be just what you are looking for. Long gone are the days in which the only way to achieve a killer smile is to wear bulky uncomfortable braces. Invisalign offers patients an alternative to wearing both traditional braces as well as self-ligating braces. Instead, patients wear plastic, almost invisible aligner trays over their teeth for the duration of the process. As one of our patients, every couple of weeks you will come in and get a new set until you get the desired results.

Invisalign vs. Braces

There are many advantages to going with the Invisalign treatment instead of traditional braces. The main reason is because it is almost impossible for anyone to see that you are getting your teeth fixed. This is also a major self-confidence booster, especially for teens and adults. There are no brackets, wires, or bands to hassle with like the traditional braces have. The lack of wiring and brackets also means that Invisalign is more comfortable; no poking from wires or irritation on the lips from brackets. Wearing traditional braces requires you to get them tightened to move the teeth, and for some that can be painful. Invisalign simply requires you to get new trays every couple of weeks, no pain and no hassle.

Keeping your aligner tray clean is much simpler than keeping traditional braces clean. With braces, you need to take extra time to brush and floss in between everything for fear of food particle and plaque build-up. With Invisalign, simply remove the tray and clean it after you brush and floss your teeth.

Another perk of using Invisalign orthodontics compared to traditional braces is that you do not have any food restrictions. This is a major plus! With regular braces, you have to stay away from sweets, candy, sticky foods, and foods with small particles like pretzels. You don’t have to worry about any of that with Invisalign; eat whatever your heart desires!
